Hello and welcome to another edition of That is Neat Patrick. There are a few things that I have found neat for the calendar week of June 17, 2024. Please enjoy.
Thing’s I am Bullish on for Summer
This publication goes out in a few hours and I truly have nothing to talk about. An unexpected consequence of starting a newsletter as a joke then actually getting into it is you really start to run out of things you find interesting to talk about. I can only tell you about loafers so much. Here are some bullet points of things I’m bullish on this summer to fill some space.
I have a feeling an iced coffee could be the move over a cold brew.
Squat PRs
5” inseam shorts, because of the squat PRs.
Mangos.
Picking strawberries.
Patio beers.
Linen pants.
Seersucker shirts.
Wearing sunglasses indoors a bit too much.
Low impact cardio, out of doors.
Learning about the Second Punic War.
Wabi Sabi.
Illegally buying Zyn in Canada.
Semi professional baseball.
Having a Mediterranean Summer and getting Tutto Passa tattooed on my person.
Things I am Bullish on for the Euros Subsection
England being eliminated in the round of 16 (God willing this will happen).
Spain going the distance.
One of Georgia or Albania making a surprisingly deep run.
Neat Video
This is the type of thing I was told I would be doing with my degree, not spreadsheets.
Cold Daddy of the Week
The Old Fashioned is good because they are the only way to drink 2oz of whiskey without wincing. The name sounds cool, and it is still whiskey based, so you get to feel like a big man when drinking it, and everybody forgets that you added sugar to your booze so you can choke it down.
A Plumb Old Fashioned is great because you are adding another oz of booze, and it is plum schnapps, so it is even more drinkable.
Turning the Plum Old Fashioned into a long boy by adding tonic is a big brain move because it looks kinda cool and is actually refreshing on an unseasonably hot day.
8.7/10
Etc.
I have watched at least a few hours of the 24 Hours of Le Mans for the last 15 years.
This one might have been the best and most competitive. This is a low bar as before last year 16 out of the last 21 races were won by a car designed by a member of the Volkswagen-Audi Group. Ferrari managed their race well which is a rare thing to say. There was a slight lull in the action when the safety car came out for four hours, but other than that it was a good time.
Another season, another Drake’s lookbook.
I can’t believe how many layers the fella in the photos is wearing. Do they not know this is the summer look book? If I wore a blazer outside in this weather I would die in under 25 minutes. I have the same warm weather capabilities as my French Bulldog, and he won’t be able to go for a walk around the block until the temperature goes back down in October. With that being said there isn’t a fit in here that I don’t like.
